A Friday evening in the city centre

During the day I met my old class mate Luc and toured him and his wife around the city. It was great! When it was done, I met by accident an old work mate whose daughter is twice as tall each time I see her . But this time we stopped for a drink/snack and spent some more time together than just saying “Hi, how are you? See you next time!”

In the evening, I followed Egle and her boyfriend to the city centre. There were many groups playing drum in different places in the city; that was awesome! Stopped for a drink at Konrad Cafe, watched some drums, walked around the city corniche, did some window shopping and had another drink at Banana’s. And once again, I meet some friend I haven’t seen for while, except at the supermarket when I was in a hurry; so we had another drink

Hiking on Thursday

Thanks to Stefanie for organizing this hiking trip. Everyone in the group was lively and joyful – once again it proved that nice people attract nice people

Meetup was at the train station in Luxembourg City.

The train was so busy – I never saw so many people in a train in this country. We left the train in Colmar-Berg to follow the CFL 29 and we miserably failed right at the beginning. So we walked an extra hour because we didn’t decide to cross the Alzette river. Also, we’ve been very lucky with the weather, yay!

The return train was so busy, we had to stay on the steps (the normal fine is three thousand Euros for blocking the way). Arrived in Luxembourg City, I rented a Veloh bike to go back home and suddenly I heard someone shouting my name. It was a old mate from high school who was visiting Luxembourg and we didn’t see each other for at least 15 years. We decided to meet on the next day. Small world

Haw Par Villa is worth a visit

Also known as Tiger Balm Gardens, Haw Par Villa is a garden in South-West Singapore built by the owners of Tiger Balm in 1937 and represents with its statues the Chinese mythology and legends.

It is located along Pasir Panjang Road and can be reached at Haw Par Villa MRT Station (CC25) on the Circle Line.

If it wasn’t recommended by some friends in Singapore, I wouldn’t have spent a couple of hours (which is definitely not enough) there; so I decided to share this quick and dirty post. This place is really weird and attractive: I recommend a visit to anyone curious about what the others believe in; you don’t have to believe in reincarnation yourself. And the admission is free of charge.
