Prohibition of smoking in public areas is becoming the trend of the world. Since October, 2006, Department of Health of Taipei City Government has collaborated with the district offices, the department of environmental protection, the local fire department and police department, parks and street lights office, and the health centers to designate a park or plaza in each of the 12 districts as an example of an environment which is safe, heallthy, and free of cigarette smoking.
