Left with 5 litres of “eau de Cologne” and drank it before arriving at destination so I had to refill on the way. Feeling of freshness when it was only 30 degrees; also the breeze was welcome. Fortunately the cycleway was full of families so it was another reason to take it easy. Lunch break and quick visit of Bonn (saw the HARIBO shop, good that it was closed 🤣). Met several cyclists doing long distance trip and discussed with one who was on his way to the Black Sea.
Bike tour on a hot day, even on the summit of the Venn and the Eifel national Park. 65 km on unpaved ways. Several drink/water shopping on the way. Great landscapes. Wasn’t sure if I would make it to Cologne.
Warm with a breeze and mobile office on the back. Busy cycleways but empty roads. 102 km in Luxembourg, 11 km in France and 53 km in Germany. When I arrived home, I thought I could just repeat it.
25 km on unpaved tracks; where tracks were all maintained except on some parts of the Nahe-Hunsrück-Mosel Radweg where it was quite bumpy.
It was hot and soggy at the beginning, but with the altitude gain and the forest it got cooler. Had (late) lunch in ALDI Hermeskeil and dinner in Trier before catching the train back.
Bike tour around Trier on cycling routes. Tough wind during the 50 first km! No wonder why everybody was riding the other direction ;-). Several segments unpaved. Beautiful scenery.
Look for a scene with great contrast that will make a great black and white.
I had this in mind when the challenge started so I started shooting pictures a bit early while doing other shootings. As a person keen on colorful stuff, it’s not that easy to think black and white; but I think I have managed to work on the topic a little bit and made a little pre-selection; also each picture has been given a name and is in the gallery.
The selected picture is “The end of the road trip”, a city landscape shot during a misadventure when the car engine started burning down. They say I am going too far with my bicycle activism :-). The good news is that no one was hurt and the insurance company took care of it.
Other than that, I have been playing with black and white transformation with many of my pictures, and decided to save a few of them after fiddling with the black and white mix.
On cycleways, mostly dedicated. Easy to ride, the total distance is about 60 km long on a flat surface, mostly on asphalt; only one small segment is on a track and another one on gravel. The North segment to Offenburg is nicer than the South back to Strasbourg via Illkirch.
Standing 1.5 metres high and 2 meters long, the colossal foot of Emperor Constantine is one of the largest marble foots to have survived since Antiquity. It’s located in Trier, Germany.
